A PhD scholarship is available for a student to join the Precision and Nanopositioning project at the University of Newcastle. The project involves the design and control of piezoelectric nanopositioning devices, including micro-cantilevers and XYZ scanners with sub-nanometer accuracy for Atomic Force Microscopy applications.

The successful candidate will have access to the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities including a high-precision Atomic Force Microscope; to work with a number of experts in their fields; and to attend premier international conferences. This project is suited to outstanding applicants with experience in FEA, mechanics, control, and electronics.
